I have never shot a gun before, is it safe?
Yes, when you come for an experience with Clay Sports Shooting your safety is paramount. Your experience will begin with a safety briefing and our instructor will ensure that all safety guidelines are followed throughout your lesson. All safety equipment and PPE is provided for you, one to one attention, showing you and ensuring you mount the gun correctly before a shot is taken, your instructor will also load and unload the gun for you until you are competent and low recoil cartridges are used so you can be assured you will be in safe hands, allowing you to relax and enjoy the experience.
Do I have to bring anything?
Our packages are all inclusive which means, all safety equipment, eye and ear protection, PPE, cartidges, clays, instruction and the use of our shotgun is included in the price you pay. So you don't need to bring anything with you. For what to wear see our other FAQ.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable, nothing too restrictive, sensible footwear, walking boots or trainers are normally most suitable and it is advised to bring a coat or waterproof.

My son/daughter is a junior and would love to try shooting, is there a minimum age?
We offer experiences for juniors, please see more information on our Junior shooters page. There is no minimum age by law however as a general rule we generally only take shooters age 11 or older, purely down to their physical size. We have .410 shotguns which are light and ideal for junior shooters to start off on.
What days are bookings available?
Mike offers lessons and experiences on each day the ground is open Wednesday through to Sunday (depending on availability)
Do I need a gun license?
No, not on our experiences or lessons.
What should I expect?
Croeso and welcome to clay pigeon shooting in North Wales, at the region’s only Premier Plus class shooting ground! These great value clay shoot experiences come with all the gear and tuition you need to get started in shooting.
This shoot team near Wrexham is headed up by Mike Mayers. Selected for the Wales Olympic Skeet team, Mike is a very skilled and accomplished shooter, but he loves showing newbies how much fun the sport can be. And that’s where you come in!
If you’ve never even handled a gun before, let alone used it to blast a bright orange clay out of the Welsh sky, you might (understandably) feel a little nervous at the start of your pigeon shooting session. All fears will soon float away, with Mike and his team all being super patient, taking time to explain clearly all the safety measures on site.
What’s more, all experiences are geared towards the individual, with each of you progressing at the appropriate pace for you. The layouts at this ground are well thought out and there’s lots of space around you. The backdrop is very much your classic North Wales moorland and hills - just delightful!
Facilities at this shooting ground are really good too. There’s lots of free parking, a warm and cosy log cabin style clubhouse including a good cafe, a classroom and a varied and extensive set of shooting stands for all different styles of clay pigeons.
We love the fact that you can make clay pigeon shooting a family affair in North Wales, with experiences open to young hot shots from 11 years old. Mike has invested in a really decent range of guns, including lighter .410 bore shotguns for teens. Low re-coil cartridges are used in all guns, making them easier to handle too.
